Game instructions and author's comments on Sudoku
This version of sudoku is basically the same as the version optimized for competition. The difference between the two is that in this version you can choose the difficulty of the puzzle yourself. Perfect for practicing before you intend to participate in the real competition.

The highscores in this version are saved on your local harddrive and are for you alone. If you want to compete for highscores with other players you’ll have to start playing the competition version.

Another thing that differs in this version is that it has the Soku game in it as well. Soku is a more easy version ...

Very well done interface, only gripe was that the puzzles were all far on the easy side. Perhaps incorporate a difficulty setting and add in some more challenging puzzles? Oh, and I absolutely loved the music. Gameplay and graphics were both kinda difficult to score. I mean, other than nice fading (which you nailed) what are you going to do to pretty up a bunch of 3x3 squares? Gameplay also, sudoku is sudoku eeither you enjoy it or not. I only gave it 8 for the difficulty reason. Style gets 10 because of how well everything pulls together and reflects my overall score for the game.

And I realize after going back to play that this is slightly different than the competition version.... hmmm maybe I should read author's comments blurbs before opening my fat mouth. Anyway... I'm new and confused and the above post was meant for the competition version which I thought was all the same. Anyhow, feel free to remove both these at your convenience

Thanks for the review. Glad you like it. The competition version is in a bit of an easy mode because otherwise it takes so long to finish and get a score. If you would like to improve yourself there it would take quite a bit of your time if the puzzle would be complex. So basically you can play the speed version there tongue .

This version does have 3 different difficulty settings. I know that on the hardest difficulty the puzzles still aren't as hard as some you will find in magazines, puzzle books or newspapers but that's basically because these are generated the moment you start playing making every puzzle unique. The math to generate these was hard enough as it is confused , so I hope the feature that it has a basically unlimited amount of puzzles makes up for it ^^.
