Besides the issues you guys already mentioned I don't really have a real spot for it right now. I'll see if it's an option in the new layout that I'm working on (meaning I'd have to find a nice place to be able to showcase a member of the month or something like that).

Well it kind of depends on how I can fill it in, it just being random wouldn't be enough fun. There would need to be some reasoning behind the picking and I don't think just forum activity will do the trick. It might be part of the calculation along with games played, quality submissions, your ranking in the competition, stuff like that. I will definitely keep this suggestion in mind when I get to designing certain pages.

Maybe it could be a point system like our EX and GP point system except more in depth.

For instance, (this is just a rough example)

3 points for a review

1 point for every 10 games played

10 points for a personal best in a competition game (but it has to be over a certain amount of points in that game)

1 point for every 20 posts in the forum

25 points for submitting a game to the portal

Something like that would encourage more forum activity and give game makers more reviews on games. It would also be harder for a veteran Clashflasher to get points since their scores are so much higher in competition games. It would give newer members rising up the ranks an opportunity to shine which is good because the gap between new members and veterans is constantly increasing and it is now harder than ever for a new member to make it into the top ten on the site. I think that the member of the month could also get a good gamepoint/experience point prize for winning as an incentive. However, I think that higher ranked members shouldn't get as big of a prize.

Added to that I'd add weight, like if you submit something to the portal, higher quality will give you a bigger bonus. Same with reviews, reviews considered useful would give a bigger bonus than those considered useless.
