I am a big fan of this game and play as much as I can. However there are a few problems with the game. The computer players will renege on occasion(actually often) and this affects the outcome of many games. Another problem is the distribution of the cards in a fair manner. I once went six consecutive games without an ace and in many games was dealt only a seven (lowest card available). The computer players constantly ignore the rules and this is chaos. An example of this is in the playing of trump cards. Players are supposed to release their highest rated trump to the player with the jack of the trump suit. Often they don't. The player with the nine should also do so. This game has the potential to be very popular in the USA if these problems can be worked out.ff

Oh interesting. Glad you like the game. I don't know about the rules the way you state them. I'll just wait for Myth to reply to that. I've played the card game a few times and I know there are several alternative rule sets that can be applied. So I don't know if it was unintentional or intentional.

Hello mrmagoo, let me first welcome you to our forums. I'm glad to hear that you like the game and I will do my best to fully understand the problems you have with the game.

First, let me explain that the rules of this game are the way I used to play it myself. I learned it from my parents and as Crisis stated, the game has several alternative rule sets. (Amsterdam and Rotterdam are with different rules) Maybe people from the USA are used to play this game differently. (with all respect)

In order to give you clear answers to all of the 'bugs' you mentioned, I must make sure that I understood all of what you said in the right way.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but if you meant that players pass on their turn, its completely legal. The player whose turn it is may play or pass with the current random trump. If he or she passes, and all other players pass as well, the first player may then choose a trump. You're always allowed to pass, unless it's your turn and no one else wants to play.

You have to believe me that the cards are dealt completely random.

This is incorrect. When a player can't over trump another player, then the player may serve what's asked. Although, when a trump card is asked, then you must trump over when possible or otherwise just serve with a trump. So you don't have to waste a trump 9 to a jack when you still have a 7 or so in your hand. This makes the game more tactical, in my opinion.

With all respect, the rules of the game might differ from region to region, and this is the way I used to play it myself. I hope you can understand that the things you mentioned are not bugs.
