hahahaha well, just to let you know, I suck at it now too. Really, that game takes some practice before you can get a decent score.

Yeah, I haven't played that game for over a year. I'm kind of scared to and since you made it so the water rushes up quicker I am even less motivated to play it. That Hall of Fame score of Xardas' is pretty high but I think it's beatable.

I just might have to play it again.

Now that I've played it, I'm noticing some things.

First off, I played a decently quick run (though getting all of the presents) with a few mistakes and the water was what killed me. This was on level 1. Are you sure that the Hall of Fame scores aren't from before the update? My top score was 2865 which means I had to of gotten to the third level. (top score you can get on the first pass is 905 and each pass after that adds (2x905)- amount of enemy-based points). I had difficulty with the water in the first level which means second level will be even worse.

Also, I noticed you can't see very far below you unless you drop down a level. Is there any chance you can add a look down action by holding down on stable ground? Or even a map button or water level gauge. Unless of course you guys are the sadistic type of designers who like seeing the players panic because they have no idea where the water is in relation to them.

Lastly, it's a real nuisance when climbing ladders that lead directly to a platform because you automatically jump at the top (but not on stand-alone ladders). Could you possibly make it so jumps are only recognized when the jump key is let go and pressed down again (just specifically on ladders if possible)? This will lower the wait time at certain parts of the game where you're waiting for the enemies to be clear of the ladder.

Aside from those nitpicky things, I LOVE this game and every Christmas season reminds me of this fact.

Thanks!

Heheheh, well I guess you're a bit right about the sadistic part. It is somehow just a sadistic game, that makes you panic.

I can look into the being able to look down, but the holding the down button option doesn't sound like it will work. It would be too annoying in case you actually want to slide and instead the camera moves down. So we'll have to think of another way there, if we want to remove a bit of the sadism wink .

If I find some time for it I'll look into the ladder thing. Maybe it's easy to do, I'm not sure, I'll have to dive into the code again wink

Yeah it really depends on how you coded it. One thing that would likely work regardless is raising the ladder so Santa's feet are out of the range of the platform's collision detection. This would be preferable as the auto-jumping when you hold up can be useful at certain points and it would suck if you'd have to disable that to fix the problem.

Yeah, I've taken a couple programming classes but I'm just an amateur currently. Turing = ancient piece of crap language

I'm not sure if I follow your idea, what do you mean with raising the ladder?

he means just one ladder that is going directly to all the way up so I can get a decent score too.
