You should have a game of the day competition where you pick a random competition game and whoever gets the best score by the end of the day wins extra gamepoints! I think that would be pretty awesome! It would also allow members who are only good at one or two games to really go up in the standings.

I think this will only push points of the every day players who are already in top 10. |

Well, it might be a good idea, but a day, like heady mentioned may be a little short of time. It's a nice suggestion, but we're currently to busy updating the site.
If you're really into this JC, you might try and work this out a little bit more

You see though, it would be a different game everyday which would mean it wouldn't be the same person winning everyday (There's no one who's good at every game). Also, since it's such a short amount of time, the scores wouldn't be as high and so, less experienced players would have a better chance of winning points.
To Myth: Point wise, I was thinking somewhere around 30 points for the person in 1st, 25 for 2nd, 20 for 3rd, 15 for 4th, 10 for 5th, and everyone else gets 5 points just for playing the game of the day! It would be separate from the competition and so, any high score you got in it wouldn't go in the hall of fame.
At the end of the month, (like in the competition) there could be a chart that shows who scored the most points from the game of the day over the course of the month.
I think this is a good idea. However, I think that it wouldn't be good now (besides, you and Crisis are busy with the big update) but once we have 15 or more competition games, I think it could be implemented. (If it was implemented now, each game would be played 3 or more times a month and that would be too imbalanced)
This will also be good for when this site has enough competition games that you pick a couple for each month. Then, it allows the comp games not picked still to be an important part of the competition through the game of the day. (eg. Clash Slider right now but in the future, there will probably be more games not used in a month)

Good suggestion bro. We'll look into that one when we work on the competition section for the big update and see if we can sneak some support for it in the system if it's not too much work.

Yes this won't be the same player everytime, but the winners of these games will be from top of the list, cause they are most experienced in the games here. A new member wouldn't have a big chance to beat the top players of a game. And there will be the problem, some players (including me) are here every day or at least neraly every day, what means, that they got about 500-600 points a month only for playing every day and additional points for top scores. A new member might not have the time for playing every day and first he needs to get practiced to the games.
In general, the top players will get more an more points and this would cause, that new members have to try harder an harder to catch up. A lucky game of the week with a score of 30 points, wouldn't help a player with only 500 points, when top gamers have 6000 or more points.
But i think i have a solution:
What about, a game of the week, where only the first player will get points, not merely a defined number of points but rather 10% of the difference of his own points to the top player.
This would be look like that:
Top Gamer has 6000 points.
Someone with 5000 points will get 100 points for winning the game of the week.
Someone with 500 points will get 550 points for the game of the week.
This also means, the top gamer wouldn't get any points for winning this game, but he could try to win this game, to avoid other players to catch up to him.
It's a little bit like foxhunting and the top gamer is the fox.
At least i think 10 Competition Games is enough, there shouldn't be much more than 10. |

That sounds like a cool implementation of JC's idea Heady.

Ok so, it's best to win the game at the end of the week while trying to keep your points as low as possible.
Because in your formula, scoring 500 points gives you 550 experience points, while scoring 5000 points only gives you 100 experience points.
I think this should be the other way around some how.
And what happens, when you actually beat the world record holder? For example, I score 160000 at Tetroboom
It's a good thing that the world record holder can't profit because of this new feature. So that's nice.

Agreed, there will be more competition games in the future, but it should be a shuffle system so there will never be more than 10 competition games at the same time.

I think this is not what i meant. With points I didn't mean points in a game, but actual gamepoints.
Maby a better example:
Today Dani is the best gamer with 5739 gamepoints
Mennez has 5541 gamepoints
I, Heady978 have 2588 gamepoints
doublejk2000 has 1020 gamepoints
If today is the last day of "game of the week" and ]Mennez wins, he will get (5739-5541) x 0.1 gamepoints ~ 20 gamepoints
if I win: (5739-2588) x 0.1 gamepoints ~ 315 gamepoints
if doublejk2000 wins, he gets (5739-1020) x 0.1 gamepoints ~ 472 gamepoints
if Dani wins nobody will get any gamepoint
The best result would be a new member who wins with a single game: (5739-2) x 0.1 ~ 574 gamepoints |

I like your point system better, Heady.
However, I think that the top gamer should still be able to get points if he gets first in a game. I think that your formula should be the same except with a +30 point bonus to whoever wins.
For example,
If Dani won it would be: .1(5739-5739)+30 = 30 points.
If Mennez won it would be: .1(5739-5541)+30 = 50 points.
If you, Heady978 won it would be: .1(5739-2588)+30 = 345 points.
If doublejk2000 won it would be: .1(5739-102)+30 = 502 points.

Aint that a bit to much for beginners?
They could be at 1000 points in 2 weeks if they win 2 times...
I don't know if i really like that system

I don't think so, but if 10% is to much you can use 7 or 5% or whatever.
My main reason for this idea is, that actually top players gain much points with playing every day and good results in competition games. This means these top players will gain more and more points and someday top players will have 10000 or 15000 gamepoints, while number 20 only has 2000 gamepoints. As new member on clashflash you would have nearly no chance to get up there, the only way is to play every day and being best in most games, but this will last pretty long. For example the top player has 10000 points (Dani in June '09 ) and a new member will achieve 100 more than no.1 each month, then he will need over 8 Years to catch up. |
