lol You beat me to the post! I was just about to comment on that! Excellent goals by Holland!

I'm pretty sure that if they play like that the whole cup, they'll make it to the finals where they'd either play Germany or Portugal (curse them)!

Yeah, that was so unexpected for the World Champions. I thought we were going to lose. Italy was playing very weak with their new coach and Holland did very, very well.
Giovanni man of the match!

Did anyone see Poland vs Germany?
Too bad Poland lost, cause they have a dutch coach (Leo Beenhakker). Beenhakker was also the coach of Trinidad & Tobago at the world championship 2 years ago.
I'm going to watch Russia vs Spain today and I hope Russia will win because they also have a dutch coach (Guus Hiddink) Remember what Hiddink did with South Korea 2 years ago? That was fantastic!

Well I wouldn't say that Italy played that bad, Holland just played so damn well. I was really surprised by their performance. I can't remember the last time seeing the players go all out and over their limit like in this match. Some of them have really improved a lot over the past two years.

Pretty much the most exiting match up till now, and not just because I'm Dutch ^^.

Cris, Italy was very bad. They were nothing compared to themselves 2 years ago. And like I said, we played absolutely terrific. But we're also an underdog, just like Greece 4 years ago. (makes teams underestimate us) I think we won't grow into the tournament just as much as other teams, because it can't go much better than this. And remember it only worked out so well because of Italy. (we overestimated them)
It was almost lucky how Gio managed to keep Italy from a goal and immediately assisted Sneijder to make one in the counter.
And it actually was most exciting because you're dutch tongue

Russia lost 4 to 1 from Spain, but it seems they have a lot more potential than Poland. I will keep following those teams besides us.

Oh well, either way, they were a lot better than two years ago but I keep my stand on claiming that it's been the most exciting match up till now, mainly because of the aggressive style and the risks taken. I haven't seen that in the other matches, yet I must admit I haven't watched all of them with full attention.

And yeah I didn't expect much and did put them in an underdog position. Even though they have one of the best teams player-wise, synergy has been lacking in almost all of the previous matches. That synergy did become reality in this match, along with a lot of player motivation.

Yet I can't compare them with Greece. I don't think anyone expected anything from Greece (apart from the Greece themselves probably), while Holland was still placed 6th in this tournament's estimations.

The Russian loss was too bad, I really hope they won't end up dropping out of the tournament in the first round.

The line-up is also really different if you compare it with the previous years. First it was about 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Now it's 4-2-3-1.

4 Defenders, 2 Mid fielders and 4 strikers!

That was also an awesome game! Between the last minute goal by Sneijder and the goal by Italy that was instantly followed like 15 seconds later by a goal from Netherlands! If they keep this up they'll have no problems getting the cup. (I hope they slaughter Portugal in a match)

Really? I found that this match was a better match. Oh well! All to their own opinions I suppose.

Well it's true that the Netherlands had a lot more trouble with France than with Italy. Even though we won, the French were strong up to the point that they could have won if their attack would have succeeded. It's just that about any strike by the Netherlands ended up in a goal while any strike of the French ended up in van der Sar's hands.

The referee was horrible though..
