Do you use Internet Explorer or Firefox? I'm using Firefox and have never gotten that crash. I don't have that fast a pc.

I use Firefox and have a mediocre PC.

while playin'. This message popped up again an again until i clicked
"stop this script". After stopping you can only click on close and
nothing else.

System:
Mac Pro 2x1,8GHz G5
768MB RAM
Safari 3.1.2

Maybe i'll try it on Vista and Firefox later @home

Myeah it still does seem to happen sometimes. I can't seem to be able to track down where its coming from exactly. I'm currently still working on an update that will extend your soldiers properties and I'll try and find a solution on how to make sure you don't lose all your progress when the game gets stuck and you have to restart it. At least that should take care of most of the frustration gained from the game getting stuck.

If anyone has a specific pointer and can tell me why they believe the game got stuck, what was going on exactly etc (possibly accompanied by a screenshot), please do so. Clicking "stop this script" will cancel all scripts so that will make the game crash basically. Yet when you get that message there's no point in waiting. The only solution from your side is a restart of the game. I really hope someone can tell me when it happens with a few pointers on what was happening exactly at that moment.

A quick and immediate update. The hanging problem may quite well be solved in the next update. Just a few minutes ago Mennez supplied me with an old screenshot of his that he made when the game crashed. In this screenshot I clearly saw that the mission status showed a value of 2775, which will probably be more likely be around 27750. This simply meant that the game got stuck in a loop somewhere during the updating of the mission status.

Now it also became clear from his screenshot that this was when all of his soldiers were either pinned down or dead and when he was out of bullets. The moment that situation occurs, the game will automatically call it the end of the mission and add the remaining Germans to the bridge's damage. The problem lay in there and it was definitely one that would let the game get stuck in an infinite loop.

I cannot update the current version of the game until I've got this new version finished. But I have high hopes that this will solve the crashing problem once and for all.

That might be the problem. My crash yesterday was in level 4 of Competition with 3 of 7 men dead and shortly before i would have lost (?!?) the game.

I got a screenshot after i stopped the script and tried to open properties of flashplayer.

First i thought that cpu power was not enough because on this mac G5 on cpu was on 100% with vanguard. But at home i tried vanguard on a Athlon XP2000 with maximum quality an coudn't reproduce this bug.

Even though I cannot see your screenshot right now, I did see it when it showed up just a moment ago.

What I can say is that this does not seem to be the same bug (darn it). So there's still another thing causing the game to run into an infinite loop.

Do you have any other information on the issue? Like a mortar dropping just before it crashed, or a halftrack passing your defenses or something like that?

I was under heavy fire. Sniper, MG ... and even mortars, which hit the
roof of this bunker directly before crashing. There were no halftracks
and i ran ouf of medikits. So at all there would be only some seconds
to the final end.

edit: as you can see now wink the mortar destroyed the roof of bunker
2.

Interesting, though I can't seem to find something that could cause a crash on a roof impact of a mortar.

As a pointer for useful screenshots. Try to get as much on the screen as possible, so ho other windows or error messages overlapping a screenshot. Secondly, make a screenshot before and after you've clicked "stop this script". The value of 2775 I spoke about earlier showed up after this button was clicked. If the screenshot would have been made before clicking "stop this script" it wouldn't have shown anything.

Another one...

I was playing level 3 of compete.
As you can see on pic 3 all soldiers alive. One of the engineers was
out of ammo, about 30 sec earlier. No Halftracks but all the other
classes were on the map.

As i tried to get a medikit for a soldier, the menu get opened an i
clicked on the +. That causes a white window+message. To click
"dont stop" was impossible, so i clickt stop an got the 3rd pic.

After stopping the same behavior like yesterday. No reaction except mouseover but
the soldier menu was cycling (act, get, move, off, act, get ... and so on) the german in
front of me cycling the classes (MG, Mortar ...) and on top left the
avatars cycling between all soldiers/bunkers and off.

Seems completly different for me...

Thanks I'll see what I can find with that info!

Edit: Still can't find where that's coming from... It's really annoying that flash doesn't have a decent debugger or profiler for these kinds of things. Try finding something like this in over 15000 lines of code if you don't know what your looking for...

Seems like a tough one chris...
Still I think you should put effort in it :p

It's me again flashcompetition wink

Believe it or not... i got another one @home on a completely
different System

Core2Duo E6750 @3,52Ghz
4GB RAM
Win Vista x64 SP1
Firefox 2.0.0.16

... so CPU power or something like that won't be the problem at all.

This time I was again in level 3, pretty close to end this level, when
oscar(engineer) run out of ammo. I moved him to bunker 2, to get
some ammo. Shortly after that this little sign, that he got some
ammo was shown on his feet.

Im pretty sure, that there was primary and secondary ammo in
bunker 2, but Oscars was still out of ammo and the game crashed.

Like the other time, there was no way to continue and after stopping
timon had this "cycling effect" through all classes, maybe just
because he was shooting when the game crashed.

In the end i guess running out of sec ammo or getting sec ammo for
a soldier (without primary weapon?) could be the problem.
... but thats only a guess. wink

Edit: I tried something :) ...
- I started level one with 5 soldiers, 2 of them engineers(Oscar an
Phil).
- Build up Bunker 3 with suppply boxes full of pri/sec ammo and
medikits
- I placed phil behind the wall (Bunker 1) and oscar in Bunker 3,
both with 4 shots of sec ammo
- Firts Phil (behind the wall) runs out of ammo, but nothing special
happens.
- later Oscar in Bunker 3 runs out of ammo, he automaticly gets
some ammo out of the supply boxes (sign +ammo on his feet) ...
and the game crashed...

Ok that's really helpful. Thanks a lot. Even though at the moment I've got my hands full with some other work I've got to do, I'll take a good look at the supply box interactions later today.

I got some additional information. With Ryan(Rifleman) i could not get sec ammo when sec ammo was empty an pri ammo not empty, but when pri and sec ammo where empty and only sec ammo in the supply box it worked to get sec ammo for Ryan.
