Vanguard: Operation Market Garden REVIEW
The 'sequel' of Invasion: Tactical Defense has been released in the historical year 2008. Is this the game where every invasion/defense fan has been waited for or not? You will get the answer here in this review.
Vanguard is a game that stars in the Second World War with one of the latest operations of it, in Holland: Operation Market Garden. In this game you've a big main story and each character (about 30 guys(!)) has their own story! The game has three games in it. The first one is the Story mode, there are 20 levels! The second one is called: King of the Hill, where you, the hero, is the only guy which has to kill all the enemy's. The last one is has the same gameplay as the first one but here you've to get a highscore for the clashflash.com competition! There are not 20 levels, that would be a way to much. Normally you will die after 3 levels.
The graphics in this game are the one of the best you will ever see in flash games. First of all the menu. It looks really awesome with really smooth looking icons and a great artistic style which made this game better looking than it already is. The game itself (competition and story mode) have also awesome graphics. The strategic options menu looks great and really synoptic. There is a nice map, sniper menu (where you can level up your sniping hero), and another one (I will later go futher into that one). Than you have the game itself. This looks really nice. The enemy moves well, your army moves well and the surroundings are just perfect. The HUD is like the strategic options menu also really synoptic.
I almost forgot to say something about the intro of this game. This looks also really nice with good animations and a nice 3d plane model. This one is one of the best looking flash games released right now over the whole world.
Now we have came to the most important part: the gameplay. You have to read the help menu or the instructions manual (can be dowloaded from clashflash.com) to fully understand this game, because it goes really, really deep.
The first part you'll see in the game is the strategic options menu (as I already said before in this review). Here you have to make a elaboration of your army, build bunkers (you have to drop the army behind them), level up your sniper, level up your army guys (!) and equip weapons, ammo and medkits for each character you have found (you can simpely press the balance button to equip the ammo and medkits to your whole army you dragged towards the bunkers) and much more.
The level up system is one of the most awesome things in this game. Each character can level up after one day he has shooted some enemy's down. But here are so many nice skills that this game will let you entertain for a very long time. I won't tell you more about this part, you've to see it for yourself. Your sniper can also level up. When you hit an enemy every time you shoot, your points will increase really fast, but when you miss it one time you left many points behind you.
The game has a big choise of weapons. The army you have can be bazooka guys, medics, woodmen, machinegun man and many more. Each man has their own pro's and con's. The bazooka guys can kill a tank (!).
After you've finished a day. You will come to a new menu. Here you've to give your army orders what they have to get or find in that night: Search for man, weapons or recourses like wood and sandbags.
There are so many depth and gameplay elements in this game but I can't tell you everything because then this review will cost my whole life. See it for yourself!
The music and sounds in this gameplay are really nice. The menu theme gives the game a good atmosphere and the sounds in the game are really nice too. There are just to much to write down. I can only say that it's good.
I have to say that you can't call Vanguard a sequel of Invasion: Tactical Defense. Because it's much better and has more entertaining gameplay than Invasion: Tactical Defense had. You have so many strategic options. You can level up your army, build bunkers and upgrade them, help your army with your own hero (a sniping guy (!)), find new military guys and much more. The best flash game ever has been released!!
Gameplay Awesome, so much depth, only some bugs left and than it's the best 10.
Graphics The best graphics at clashflash.com and one of the best ones of the whole world of flash 10.
Sound Great music and sounds, 9.
Addictiveness A really big game with a competition mode, perfect, 10.
10/10
