How do I play this game?
Sudoku is a puzzle game with numbers. Within a short amount of time this ancient game has conquered the world.

Image 1.0 shows the basic sudoku playfield. The playfield is indicated by the red 1. You値l notice that there are 81 squares on the field and that only a limited amount of these squares has a number in it. It is up to you to make sure the field gets filled up with numbers completely.

You値l probably also notice that the field seems divided into 9 smaller fields containing 9 squares. This will make the solving go a bit faster and it makes sure the game does not become too chaotic. The main reason for doing this will become more clear in the next section.

The problem with a sudoku is that you can稚 just enter any number in the empty boxes. There are a few rules you have to keep in mind when entering a number.

#1 Only the numbers 1 to 9 are allowed.
#2 Every 3x3 box can only contain the numbers 1 to 9 once. So for example, you cannot enter two 3s in one 3x3 box.
#3 Every row and every collum can contain a number only once.

What are the controls?
2. The next question you might ask is how you are supposed to enter numbers in the playfield. The red two in the picture indicates the number selection field. You can click a number in this field to make it active. If you click it again it becomes inactive. You can only have one active number at once.

When a number is active you can scroll your mouse over the playfield and you値l notice that the box your mouse is on will increase in size. When you click your left mouse button you値l notice that the selected box will now contain the number you made active earlier. If you didn稚 have any number active the moment you clicked the box will remain empty. If the box were to have contained a number already, the old number will disappear and the box will be containing the new one or, if you didn稚 have an active number at the time you clicked, the box will become empty again.

Another way of selecting numbers is by pressing the respective numbers on your keyboard. Mind you, this option is only provided for the numbers above your alphabetic characters, not the numbers on your numpad. This way of working will make the number selection go a lot faster.

Underneath the keypad indicated with the red 2 you値l notice large number. This number represents your score and it decreases every second. The longer it takes you to solve the puzzle, the lower your score will be.

When you池e done with the puzzle and want to check if the answer is correct you値l have to click the Check Answer button. If the answer was correct, the score at that time will be submitted. If the answer was wrong you can still continue trying to solve it.

If you decide that the puzzle has become either too messy or too complicated you can click the New button to generate a new puzzle.

Caution:
Generating a puzzle takes some time, therefore you値l have to be patient and wait for flash to generate the puzzle after you clicked New. It will show it just takes a bit longer on a slow pc. Why does it take this long? Because the puzzles are unique everytime you play. The chance that you値l ever play the same puzzle are slim to none.

What is the story behind this game?
Sudoku is the way too popular puzzlegame and currently you can play it about everywhere on the internet or in you local newspaper. Before it became this popular the current flashgame already existed. That is basically why you値l find it everywhere online if you池e looking for a flash sudoku game.

The problem with the version of this same flashgame that you値l find on any other website besides Clashflash.com is that the puzzles are not uniquely solvable. Practically everytime you try and solve a puzzle generated with that version you値l come to the point where there are two or more possible solutions. A real puzzle has only one solution and so does the version you can play in our competition.
